Frequently asked questions
The duration of a therapy session can vary depending on the therapist and the client's needs. Typically, therapy sessions last anywhere from 40 to 50 minutes. However, some sessions may be shorter or longer, depending on the therapeutic goals and the nature of the work being done.
In some cases, therapists may offer longer sessions for more in-depth work or shorter sessions for brief check-ins or specific interventions. The length of the session can be discussed and agreed upon between you and your therapist based on your needs and preferences.
The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals, as well as the recommendation of your therapist. In general, therapy sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis, especially at the beginning of therapy when you may benefit from more frequent sessions to establish a therapeutic relationship and work on your goals.
As therapy progresses and you begin to make progress towards your goals, the frequency of sessions may decrease. Some people may eventually transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as they continue to work on their goals and maintain progress.
It's important to discuss your preferences and goals with your therapist to come up with a schedule that works best for you.
Yes, therapy is confidential. Therapists are required by law to keep your therapy sessions and any information you share with them confidential, with some exceptions. These exceptions typically include situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or when the therapist is required to report suspected abuse or neglect.
Therapists also typically discuss confidentiality and its limitations with clients at the beginning of therapy to ensure that clients understand their rights and the boundaries of confidentiality. It's important to feel comfortable discussing any concerns you have about confidentiality with your therapist so that you can work together to address them.
We are considered out-of-network and payment is due in full at each appointment. You are encouraged to seek out-of-network benefits or use your HSA or FSA if applicable. If you are hoping to use your out-of-network benefits, please be aware that insurance plans vary and coverage is not guaranteed.
If you have out-of-network insurance, your insurance plan may be able to cover a portion of the session costs. Please let me know before we start sessions if you would like to use your out-of-network insurance.
